Peak Price of Ceramic Sanitary Ware in Turkey Reaches $25.6 per Unit

Turkey Ceramic Sanitary Ware Export Price in December 2022

In December 2022, the ceramic sanitary ware price amounted to $25.6 per unit (FOB, Turkey), growing by 2.2% against the previous month. Over the last eleven-month period, it increased at an average monthly rate of +1.5%. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in February 2022 when the average export price increased by 7.7% m-o-m. Over the period under review, the average export prices attained the peak figure in December 2022.

Prices varied noticeably by the country of destination: the country with the highest price was the United States ($38.0 per unit), while the average price for exports to Jordan ($16.3 per unit) was amongst the lowest.

From January 2022 to December 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Russia (+3.7%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

Turkey Ceramic Sanitary Ware Export Prices by Type

There were significant differences in the average prices for the major types of exported product. In December 2022, the product with the highest price was ceramic sinks, baths, water closet pans and similar sanitary fixtures of porcelain or china ($41.6 per unit), while the average price for exports of ceramic sinks, baths, water closet pans and similar sanitary fixtures other than of porcelain or china totaled $25.5 per unit.

From January 2022 to December 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for the following types: ceramic sinks, baths, water closet pans and similar sanitary fixtures other than of porcelain or china (+1.5%).

Turkey Ceramic Sanitary Ware Exports

In December 2022, overseas shipments of ceramic sinks, baths, water closet pans and similar sanitary fixtures increased by 13% to 1.1M units for the first time since August 2022, thus ending a three-month declining trend. Over the period under review, exports, however, showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The growth pace was the most rapid in August 2022 when exports increased by 25% m-o-m. Over the period under review, the exports hit record highs at 1.5M units in March 2022; however, from April 2022 to December 2022, the exports remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, ceramic sanitary ware exports surged to $28M (IndexBox estimates) in December 2022. Overall, exports saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in August 2022 when exports increased by 30% month-to-month. The exports peaked at 35M units in April 2022; however, from May 2022 to December 2022, the exports failed to regain momentum.

Ceramic sinks, baths, water closet pans and similar sanitary fixtures other than of porcelain or china (1.1M units) was the largest type of ceramic sanitary ware exported from Turkey, with a 99% share of total exports. It was followed by ceramic sinks, baths, water closet pans and similar sanitary fixtures of porcelain or china (6.9K units), with a 0.6% share of total exports.

From January 2022 to December 2022, the average monthly growth rate of the volume of export of ceramic sinks, baths, water closet pans and similar sanitary fixtures other than of porcelain or china was relatively modest.

In value terms, ceramic sinks, baths, water closet pans and similar sanitary fixtures other than of porcelain or china ($28M) remains the largest type of ceramic sanitary ware exported from Turkey, comprising 99% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by ceramic sinks, baths, water closet pans and similar sanitary fixtures of porcelain or china ($289K), with a 1% share of total exports.

Turkey Ceramic Sanitary Ware Exports by Country

France (220K units), Germany (125K units) and the UK (88K units) were the main destinations of ceramic sanitary ware exports from Turkey, together accounting for 39% of total exports. Italy, Israel, Iraq, Morocco, Russia, Serbia, the United States, Jordan, India and the Netherlands lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 32%.

From January 2022 to December 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of shipments, amongst the main countries of destination, was attained by India (with a CAGR of +12.1%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, the largest markets for ceramic sanitary ware exported from Turkey were France ($4.4M), Germany ($3.2M) and the UK ($2.2M), together accounting for 34% of total exports. Israel, Italy, Russia, Iraq, the United States, Morocco, India, Serbia, the Netherlands and Jordan lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 32%.

In terms of the main countries of destination, India, with a CAGR of +13.7%, recorded the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of exports, over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
