Bottled Water Price in Ireland (CIF) - 2023
The average bottled water import price stood at $646 per thousand litres in September 2023, increasing by 9.3% against the previous month. Over the period under review, import price indicated a perceptible increase from September 2022 to September 2023: its price increased at an average monthly rate of +3.6% over the last twelve months. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on September 2023 figures, bottled water import price increased by +21.8% against July 2023 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in November 2022 an increase of 88% month-to-month. The import price peaked at $713 per thousand litres in May 2023; however, from June 2023 to September 2023, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In September 2023, the country with the highest price was France ($3.4 per litre), while the price for Germany ($262 per thousand litres) was amongst the lowest.
From September 2022 to September 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Poland (+4.1%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
Bottled Water Price in Ireland (FOB) - 2022
The average bottled water export price stood at $0.3 per litre in 2022, dropping by -2.9% against the previous year. In general, the export price faced a abrupt contraction. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2019 an increase of 84% against the previous year. The export price peaked at $1.5 per litre in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2022, the export prices remained at a lower figure.
As there is only one major export destination, the average price level is determined by prices for the UK.
From 2012 to 2022, the rate of growth in terms of prices for the UK amounted to -11.7% per year.
Bottled Water Imports in Ireland
After three years of growth, supplies from abroad of bottled waters decreased by -14.6% to 75M litres in 2022. Over the period under review, imports showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2020 with an increase of 9.6%. Imports peaked at 88M litres in 2021, and then contracted in the following year.
In value terms, bottled water imports reduced to $33M in 2022. In general, imports recorded a pronounced downturn. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 with an increase of 2.1% against the previous year. Imports peaked at $38M in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2022, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.
