Canary Seed Price in Australia (FOB) - 2022

The average canary seed export price stood at $1,553 per ton in 2022, growing by 30% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price posted a resilient increase. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2014 an increase of 46% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the average export prices attained the peak figure at $2,091 per ton in 2020; however, from 2021 to 2022, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices for the major foreign markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was the UK ($2,213 per ton), while the average price for exports to Japan ($915 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Saudi Arabia (+9.4%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

The average canary seed import price stood at $789 per ton in 2022, stabilizing at the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2016 an increase of 30% against the previous year. As a result, import price reached the peak level of $962 per ton. From 2017 to 2022, the average import prices remained at a lower figure.
