Chipped Non-Coniferous Wood Price in Hungary (CIF) - 2022
The average chipped non-coniferous wood import price stood at $65 per cubic meter in 2022, which is down by -3% against the previous year. In general, the import price, however, recorded a prominent increase. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2020 when the average import price increased by 54% against the previous year. Over the period under review, average import prices hit record highs at $67 per cubic meter in 2021, and then dropped modestly in the following year.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Germany ($220 per cubic meter), while the price for Croatia ($50 per cubic meter) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Poland (+11.9%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced mixed trend patterns.
Chipped Non-Coniferous Wood Price in Hungary (FOB) - 2022
In 2022, the average chipped non-coniferous wood export price amounted to $15 per cubic meter, waning by -46.5% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price saw a deep downturn. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2019 an increase of 6.3% against the previous year. The export price peaked at $44 per cubic meter in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Austria ($29 per cubic meter), while the average price for exports to Italy ($3.1 per cubic meter) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Italy (-1.3%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced a decline.
Chipped Non-Coniferous Wood Imports in Hungary
In 2022, after two years of decline, there was significant growth in overseas purchases of non-coniferous wood in chips or particles, when their volume increased by 37% to 26K cubic meters. Over the period under review, imports, however, faced a dramatic decrease. Imports peaked at 140K cubic meters in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2022, imports remained at a lower figure.
In value terms, chipped non-coniferous wood imports skyrocketed to $1.7M in 2022. In general, imports, however, showed a sharp setback. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs at $4.3M in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2022, imports failed to regain momentum.

In 2022, shipments abroad of non-coniferous wood in chips or particles increased by 80% to 71K cubic meters for the first time since 2019, thus ending a two-year declining trend. Over the period under review, exports, however, continue to indicate a abrupt contraction. The exports peaked at 126K cubic meters in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2022, the exports failed to regain momentum.
