Cotton Yarn Price in Bulgaria (CIF) - 2023

The average cotton yarn import price stood at $4,493 per ton in July 2023, with a decrease of -10.8% against the previous month. Overall, the import price continues to indicate a perceptible setback. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in April 2023 an increase of 22% against the previous month. The import price peaked at $5,721 per ton in July 2022; however, from August 2022 to July 2023, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably by the country of origin: the country with the highest price was Uzbekistan ($5,844 per ton), while the price for Indonesia ($1,265 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From July 2022 to July 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Uzbekistan (+0.7%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced mixed trend patterns.

Cotton Yarn Price in Bulgaria (FOB) - 2023

The average cotton yarn export price stood at $9,655 per ton in July 2023, with an increase of 3.5% against the previous month. Over the period from July 2022 to July 2023, it increased at an average monthly rate of +1.3%. The growth pace was the most rapid in August 2022 an increase of 28% m-o-m. As a result, the export price reached the peak level of $10,593 per ton. From September 2022 to July 2023, the the average export prices remained at a somewhat lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably by the country of destination: the country with the highest price was Italy ($18,799 per ton), while the average price for exports to Greece ($4,566 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From July 2022 to July 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Italy (+4.8%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

Cotton Yarn Imports in Bulgaria

Cotton yarn imports into Bulgaria contracted notably to 8.2K tons in 2022, dropping by -17.7% on the year before. In general, imports showed a slight curtailment. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 with an increase of 17%. As a result, imports attained the peak of 9.9K tons, and then fell dramatically in the following year.

In value terms, cotton yarn imports fell modestly to $44M in 2022. Over the period under review, total imports indicated a prominent increase from 2019 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +11.8% over the last three-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +41.7% against 2020 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 with an increase of 46%. As a result, imports attained the peak of $46M, and then declined modestly in the following year.

Cotton Yarn Exports in Bulgaria

Overall, exports, however, recorded a strong expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 with an increase of 75%. As a result, the exports reached the peak of 3.3K tons, and then reduced markedly in the following year.

In value terms, cotton yarn exports shrank to $23M in 2022. Over the period under review, total exports indicated a prominent increase from 2019 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +16.0% over the last three-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, exports increased by +56.1% against 2019 indices. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 with an increase of 60% against the previous year. As a result, the exports attained the peak of $27M, and then fell in the following year.
