Couscous Price in the Dominican Republic (CIF) - 2022
The average couscous import price stood at $3,335 per ton in 2022, increasing by 2.5% against the previous year. In general, the import price recorded a buoyant increase. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2016 when the average import price increased by 44% against the previous year. The import price peaked at $3,414 per ton in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2022, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Israel ($5,834 per ton), while the price for Portugal ($1,587 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Israel (+16.9%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
Couscous Price in the Dominican Republic (FOB) - 2022
The average couscous export price stood at $819 per ton in 2022, almost unchanged from the previous year. Overall, the export price recorded a pronounced downturn. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 an increase of 24%. As a result, the export price attained the peak level of $1,307 per ton. From 2018 to 2022, the average export prices remained at a lower figure.
As there is only one major export destination, the average price level is determined by prices for the United States.
From 2012 to 2022, the rate of growth in terms of prices for the United States amounted to -2.6% per year.
Couscous Imports in the Dominican Republic
In 2022, purchases abroad of couscous was finally on the rise to reach 30 tons for the first time since 2019, thus ending a two-year declining trend. Over the period under review, imports, however, showed a deep reduction.
In value terms, couscous imports surged to $99K in 2022. Overall, imports, however, showed a noticeable shrinkage.

Couscous Exports in the Dominican Republic
