In November 2023, the average cow peas import price amounted to $1,346 per ton, which is down by -38.2% against the previous month. In general, the import price saw a pronounced setback. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in May 2023 when the average import price increased by 87% m-o-m. The import price peaked at $2,766 per ton in September 2023; however, from October 2023 to November 2023, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In November 2023, the country with the highest price was Japan ($13,015 per ton), while the price for Myanmar ($836 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From November 2022 to November 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Japan (+6.9%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
