Frozen Fruit Price in Belgium (CIF) - 2022
The average frozen fruit import price stood at $2,415 per ton in 2021, with an increase of 22% against the previous year. Over the period from 2012 to 2021, it increased at an average annual rate of +2.6%. As a result, import price attained the peak level and is likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was France ($3,652 per ton), while the price for Egypt ($1,234 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Serbia (+4.1%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
Frozen Fruit Price in Belgium (FOB) - 2023
The average frozen fruit export price stood at $2,996 per ton in June 2023, declining by -2.9% against the previous month. In general, the export price, however, recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in December 2022 when the average export price increased by 25% m-o-m. Over the period under review, the average export prices attained the maximum at $3,197 per ton in April 2023; however, from May 2023 to June 2023, the export prices failed to regain momentum.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major foreign markets. In June 2023, the country with the highest price was Poland ($4,076 per ton), while the average price for exports to Austria ($1,971 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From June 2022 to June 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Poland (+5.7%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
Frozen Fruit Imports in Belgium
In 2022, approx. 145K tons of frozen fruits were imported into Belgium; picking up by 7.8% against the year before. The total import volume increased at an average annual rate of +10.2% from 2019 to 2022; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2020 when imports increased by 23%. Over the period under review, imports reached the maximum in 2022 and are expected to retain growth in years to come.
In value terms, frozen fruit imports expanded notably to $346M in 2022. Over the period under review, imports reached the maximum in 2022 and are likely to continue growth in years to come.
