Insulating Board Price in Germany (CIF) - 2023
The average insulating board import price stood at $396 per cubic meter in July 2023, waning by -3.9% against the previous month. In general, the import price, however, showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in November 2022 an increase of 7% month-to-month. Over the period under review, average import prices attained the peak figure at $426 per cubic meter in December 2022; however, from January 2023 to July 2023, import prices remained at a lower figure.
Average prices varied noticeably amongst the major supplying countries. In July 2023, the country with the highest price was Poland ($377 per cubic meter), while the price for France stood at $371 per cubic meter.
From July 2022 to July 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by France (+1.1%).
Insulating Board Price in Germany (FOB) - 2023
The average insulating board export price stood at $493 per cubic meter in July 2023, increasing by 5.9% against the previous month. In general, the export price recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in February 2023 an increase of 20% m-o-m. The export price peaked in July 2023.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major export markets. In July 2023, the country with the highest price was Belgium ($688 per cubic meter), while the average price for exports to Switzerland ($421 per cubic meter) was amongst the lowest.
From July 2022 to July 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to France (+2.5%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
Insulating Board Imports in Germany
In 2022, after three years of growth, there was significant decline in purchases abroad of insulating board, when their volume decreased by -10.3% to 412K cubic meters. The total import volume increased at an average annual rate of +7.0% over the period from 2019 to 2022; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded in certain years. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2020 with an increase of 18%. Over the period under review, imports reached the peak figure at 460K cubic meters in 2021, and then declined in the following year.
In value terms, insulating board imports declined to $159M in 2022. In general, total imports indicated a prominent expansion from 2019 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +15.9% over the last three years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +55.7% against 2019 indices. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 when imports increased by 30% against the previous year. As a result, imports reached the peak of $164M, and then shrank slightly in the following year.

Insulating Board Exports in Germany
After three years of growth, overseas shipments of insulating board decreased by -12.6% to 176K cubic meters in 2022. In general, total exports indicated a buoyant expansion from 2019 to 2022: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +13.1% over the last three years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, exports increased by +44.6% against 2019 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 when exports increased by 39%. Over the period under review, the exports hit record highs at 202K cubic meters in 2021, and then shrank in the following year.
In value terms, insulating board exports reduced to $76M in 2022. Overall, total exports indicated a prominent increase from 2019 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +17.1% over the last three years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, exports increased by +60.4% against 2019 indices. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2020 with an increase of 50% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports hit record highs at $77M in 2021, and then dropped modestly in the following year.
