Lead Price in China (FOB) - 2022
The average lead export price stood at $2,355 per ton in 2022, approximately reflecting the previous year. In general, the export price saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2017 an increase of 25% against the previous year. The export price peaked at $2,633 per ton in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2022, the export prices remained at a lower figure.
Average prices varied somewhat for the major overseas markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the countries with the highest prices were Thailand ($3,254 per ton) and the Netherlands ($2,458 per ton), while the average price for exports to Vietnam ($2,209 per ton) and the United States ($2,231 per ton) were amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Turkey (+5.0%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced a decline.
Lead Price in China (CIF) - 2022
The average lead import price stood at $1,968 per ton in 2022, picking up by 1.7% against the previous year. Overall, the import price, however, recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 an increase of 23% against the previous year. As a result, import price attained the peak level of $2,348 per ton. From 2018 to 2022, the average import prices failed to regain momentum.
Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was South Korea ($2,802 per ton), while the price for the Philippines ($1,431 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Kazakhstan (+4.1%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
Lead Exports in China
In 2022, approx. 121K tons of lead were exported from China; picking up by 22% compared with 2021. Overall, exports showed significant growth. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 when exports increased by 1,863% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports reached the maximum in 2022 and are likely to see steady growth in the immediate term.
In value terms, lead exports soared to $284M in 2022. In general, exports showed significant growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when exports increased by 2,195% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports reached the peak figure in 2022 and are expected to retain growth in the near future.

Lead Imports in China
For the third consecutive year, China recorded decline in overseas purchases of lead, which decreased by -20.4% to 41K tons in 2022. In general, imports continue to indicate a dramatic decline. The smallest decline of -19.6% was in 2021.
In value terms, lead imports contracted sharply to $81M in 2022. Over the period under review, imports faced a dramatic curtailment. The smallest decline of -8.2% was in 2021.
