Oat Price in Italy (CIF) - 2023
In June 2023, the average oat import price amounted to $445 per ton, shrinking by -3.7% against the previous month. Over the period under review, import price indicated a modest increase from June 2022 to June 2023: its price increased at an average monthly rate of +1.4% over the last twelve-month period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on June 2023 figures, oat import price increased by +15.2% against February 2023 indices. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in July 2022 an increase of 110% against the previous month. As a result, import price reached the peak level of $795 per ton. From August 2022 to June 2023, the average import prices failed to regain momentum.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of origin: the country with the highest price was France ($493 per ton), while the price for Hungary ($306 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From June 2022 to June 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Germany (+2.3%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced mixed trend patterns.
Oat Price in Italy (FOB) - 2022
In 2022, the average oat export price amounted to $537 per ton, with a decrease of -12.3% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price, however, saw tangible growth. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2018 an increase of 397%. As a result, the export price attained the peak level of $3,173 per ton. From 2019 to 2022, the average export prices failed to regain momentum.
Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Germany ($1,092 per ton), while the average price for exports to Greece ($372 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Germany (+9.8%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
Oat Imports in Italy
In 2022, after three years of growth, there was decline in overseas purchases of oats, when their volume decreased by -1.1% to 27K tons. The total import volume increased at an average annual rate of +11.6% from 2019 to 2022; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2020 with an increase of 22%.
In value terms, oat imports skyrocketed to $11M in 2022. Over the period under review, total imports indicated significant growth from 2019 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +22.7% over the last three years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +84.7% against 2019 indices. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2020 with an increase of 33%. Imports peaked in 2022 and are likely to see gradual growth in the immediate term.

Oat Exports in Italy
In 2022, shipments abroad of oats was finally on the rise to reach 3.6K tons for the first time since 2019, thus ending a two-year declining trend. In general, exports, however, saw a significant decline.
In value terms, oat exports skyrocketed to $1.9M in 2022. Overall, exports, however, showed a abrupt curtailment.
