Paddy Rice Price in Germany (CIF) - 2023
The average paddy rice import price stood at $1,330 per ton in June 2023, with an increase of 21% against the previous month. Over the period from June 2022 to June 2023, it increased at an average monthly rate of +2.8%. The growth pace was the most rapid in August 2022 when the average import price increased by 31% against the previous month. As a result, import price attained the peak level of $1,415 per ton. From September 2022 to June 2023, the average import prices remained at a lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In June 2023, the country with the highest price was Denmark ($2,015 per ton), while the price for the Netherlands ($1,026 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From June 2022 to June 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Poland (+7.3%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
Paddy Rice Price in Germany (FOB) - 2022
The average paddy rice export price stood at $1,768 per ton in 2022, shrinking by -14.9% against the previous year. Overall, export price indicated a tangible expansion from 2012 to 2022: its price increased at an average annual rate of +4.4% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, paddy rice export price increased by +62.9% against 2017 indices. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 an increase of 24% against the previous year. As a result, the export price attained the peak level of $2,076 per ton, and then dropped in the following year.
Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Hungary ($2,745 per ton), while the average price for exports to the Netherlands ($1,072 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to France (+12.2%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced mixed trend patterns.
Paddy Rice Imports in Germany
In 2022, after two years of decline, there was significant growth in overseas purchases of paddy rice, when their volume increased by 12% to 6.1K tons. In general, imports, however, recorded a abrupt contraction.
In value terms, paddy rice imports rose to $6.1M in 2022. Overall, imports, however, showed a noticeable slump.

In value terms, paddy rice exports fell significantly to $738K in 2022. In general, exports saw a perceptible reduction. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 when exports increased by 25%.
