China (575K units) remains the largest pedestrian-controlled tractor producing country worldwide, comprising approx. 20% of total volume. Moreover, pedestrian-controlled tractor production in China exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest producer, the United States (253K units), twofold. The third position in this ranking was taken by India (199K units), with a 7% share.

From 2012 to 2022, the average annual rate of growth in terms of volume in China stood at +5.1%. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: the United States (+6.0% per year) and India (+3.4% per year).

Imports

World Imports of Pedestrian-Controlled Tractors

Global pedestrian-controlled tractor imports skyrocketed to 319K units in 2022, increasing by 87% against 2021 figures. In general, imports continue to indicate resilient growth. As a result, imports attained the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

At the same time, Thailand (+56.3%), Lao People's Democratic Republic (+36.3%), Spain (+30.8%), the Netherlands (+29.2%), the United States (+23.9%), Denmark (+23.4%), Nigeria (+22.2%), Canada (+17.1%), Bangladesh (+14.0%) and Belgium (+6.7%) displayed positive paces of growth. By contrast, Cambodia (-5.4%) and Ukraine (-13.4%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. Romania (+28 p.p.), the Netherlands (+8.5 p.p.), Bangladesh (+3.5 p.p.), Thailand (+2.8 p.p.), Spain (+2.2 p.p.), Nigeria (+2.2 p.p.), Denmark (+2.1 p.p.) and the United States (+1.6 p.p.) significantly strengthened its position in terms of the global imports, while Cambodia and Ukraine saw its share reduced by -17.1% and -17.3% from 2012 to 2022, respectively. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

In value terms, the largest pedestrian-controlled tractor importing markets worldwide were Bangladesh ($41M), Romania ($29M) and Nigeria ($26M), together accounting for 24% of global imports.

Among the main importing countries, Nigeria, with a CAGR of +43.5%, recorded the highest growth rate of the value of imports, over the period under review, while purchases for the other global leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Import Prices By Country

The average pedestrian-controlled tractor import price stood at $1,255 per unit in 2022, declining by -40.2% against the previous year. In general, the import price continues to indicate a deep downturn. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2014 an increase of 34% against the previous year.
