Plywood Price in Russia (FOB) - 2022
The average plywood export price stood at $718 per cubic meter in January 2022, picking up by 7.8% against the previous month. Over the period under review, export price indicated a moderate expansion from January 2021 to January 2022: its price increased at an average monthly rate of +4.1% over the last twelve months. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on January 2022 figures, plywood export price decreased by -18.5% against September 2021 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in August 2021 an increase of 17% against the previous month. The export price peaked at $881 per cubic meter in September 2021; however, from October 2021 to January 2022, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Average prices varied somewhat for the major export markets. In January 2022, the highest price was recorded for prices to the United States ($811 per cubic meter) and Germany ($788 per cubic meter), while the average price for exports to Belgium ($605 per cubic meter) and Egypt ($625 per cubic meter) were amongst the lowest.
From January 2021 to January 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to the United States (+5.9%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
Plywood Price in Russia (CIF) - 2022
The average plywood import price stood at $477 per cubic meter in January 2022, waning by -35.9% against the previous month. In general, the import price showed a mild descent. The growth pace was the most rapid in February 2021 an increase of 73% m-o-m. Over the period under review, average import prices hit record highs at $988 per cubic meter in April 2021; however, from May 2021 to January 2022, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In January 2022, the country with the highest price was Latvia ($1,283 per cubic meter), while the price for China ($276 per cubic meter) was amongst the lowest.
From January 2021 to January 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Lithuania (+4.8%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
Plywood Exports in Russia
In 2022, overseas shipments of plywood were finally on the rise to reach 3.4M cubic meters after two years of decline. In general, exports, however, continue to indicate a perceptible shrinkage. Over the period under review, the exports attained the maximum at 3.8M cubic meters in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2022, the exports failed to regain momentum.
In value terms, plywood exports dropped to $1.8B in 2022. Overall, exports, however, saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 with an increase of 10%. As a result, the exports reached the peak of $1.9B, and then contracted modestly in the following year.

Plywood Imports in Russia
In 2022, the amount of plywood imported into Russia soared to 76K cubic meters, picking up by 19% against the year before. Overall, total imports indicated a prominent expansion from 2019 to 2022: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +12.0% over the last three years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports decreased by -10.8% against 2020 indices. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2020 with an increase of 58%. As a result, imports reached the peak of 85K cubic meters. From 2021 to 2022, the growth of imports remained at a lower figure.
In value terms, plywood imports rose rapidly to $50M in 2022. In general, total imports indicated a strong increase from 2019 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +11.8% over the last three years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports decreased by -8.8% against 2020 indices. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2020 when imports increased by 53% against the previous year. As a result, imports attained the peak of $54M. From 2021 to 2022, the growth of imports remained at a lower figure.
