In September 2022, the average import price for alcohols; cyclic, and their halogenated, sulphonated, nitrated or nitrosated derivativeses amounted to $18,608 per ton, approximately equating the previous month. Over the last eight months, it increased at an average monthly rate of +5.8%. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in February 2022 an increase of 46% against the previous month. The import price peaked at $19,163 per ton in June 2022; however, from July 2022 to September 2022, import prices failed to regain momentum.
Average prices varied somewhat amongst the major supplying countries. In September 2022, the countries with the highest prices were the United States ($22,391 per ton) and India ($20,004 per ton), while the price for China ($16,238 per ton) and Malaysia ($18,541 per ton) were amongst the lowest.
From January 2022 to September 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by India (+8.6%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2022, the average export price for alcohols; cyclic, and their halogenated, sulphonated, nitrated or nitrosated derivativeses amounted to $19,268 per ton, jumping by 21% against the previous year. Overall, the export price, however, showed a pronounced curtailment. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2018 an increase of 28%. The export price peaked at $27,434 per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, the export prices remained at a lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major external markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was South Korea ($26,264 per ton), while the average price for exports to Malaysia ($7,199 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Malaysia (+2.9%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced a decline.

In 2022, purchases abroad of alcohols; cyclic, and their halogenated, sulphonated, nitrated or nitrosated derivativeses decreased by -14.6% to 8K tons for the first time since 2018, thus ending a three-year rising trend. The total import volume increased at an average annual rate of +4.6% from 2019 to 2022; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when imports increased by 34%. As a result, imports attained the peak of 9.3K tons, and then shrank in the following year.
In value terms, imports of alcohols; cyclic, and their halogenated, sulphonated, nitrated or nitrosated derivativeses fell to $87M in 2022. Over the period under review, imports recorded a perceptible downturn. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 when imports increased by 4.3%.
