In October 2023, the average import price for butter and other fats and oils derived from milk amounted to $5,904 per ton, rising by 6.4% against the previous month. In general, the import price, however, showed a slight contraction. The import price peaked at $7,141 per ton in December 2022; however, from January 2023 to October 2023, import prices remained at a lower figure.
As there is only one major supplying country, the average price level is determined by prices for Serbia.

Over the period under review, the export price, however, recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in December 2022 when the average export price increased by 18% month-to-month. The export price peaked at $7,108 per ton in January 2023; however, from February 2023 to November 2023, the export prices failed to regain momentum.
Average prices varied noticeably for the major external markets. In November 2023, the country with the highest price was Bosnia and Herzegovina ($5,048 per ton), while the average price for exports to Serbia ($4,712 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From November 2022 to November 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Romania (+9.2%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced a decline.
