The average import price for cereals; millet, other than seeds stood at $1,333 per ton in 2022, rising by 6.4% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price saw strong growth. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2017 an increase of 106%. Over the period under review, average import prices hit record highs at $1,375 per ton in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2022, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was France ($3,468 per ton), while the price for Ukraine ($466 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Poland (+20.6%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2022, the average export price for cereals; millet, other than seeds amounted to $461 per ton, rising by 24% against the previous year. Over the period under review, export price indicated a slight expansion from 2012 to 2022: its price increased at an average annual rate of +1.1% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, cereals; millet, other than seed export price increased by +135.2% against 2020 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when the average export price increased by 90% against the previous year. The export price peaked at $476 per ton in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2022, the export prices failed to regain momentum.

There were significant differences in the average prices for the major export markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Slovenia ($9,500 per ton), while the average price for exports to the Czech Republic ($342 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Slovenia (+41.0%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

Imports of Cereals; Millet, Other than Seed in Slovakia

In 2022, overseas purchases of cereals; millet, other than seeds decreased by -65.3% to 56 tons, falling for the second consecutive year after two years of growth. Over the period under review, imports continue to indicate a noticeable curtailment. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 when imports increased by 172%. As a result, imports attained the peak of 175 tons. From 2021 to 2022, the growth of imports remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, cereals; millet, other than seed imports dropped remarkably to $74K in 2022. In general, imports continue to indicate a abrupt downturn. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 when imports increased by 101% against the previous year.
