In 2022, the average export price for coal; bituminous, whether or not pulverised, but not agglomerateds amounted to $155 per ton, growing by 33% against the previous year. Over the period under review, export price indicated a temperate increase from 2012 to 2022: its price increased at an average annual rate of +2.1% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, export price for coal; bituminous, whether or not pulverised, but not agglomerateds increased by +108.0% against 2020 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 an increase of 56%. The export price peaked in 2022 and is expected to retain growth in the immediate term.

Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Spain ($293 per ton), while the average price for exports to Italy ($60 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

As there is only one major supplying country, the average price level is determined by prices for Kazakhstan.

The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 with an increase of 22%. Over the period under review, the exports of attained the maximum in 2022 and are expected to retain growth in the near future.

In value terms, exports of coal; bituminous, whether or not pulverised, but not agglomerateds skyrocketed to $34.6B in 2022. Overall, exports saw a significant expansion. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 when exports increased by 91% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports of hit record highs in 2022 and are expected to retain growth in the near future.
