In January 2024, the average export price for ethylene polymers; waste, parings and scraps amounted to $163 per ton, surging by 25% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the export price, however, continues to indicate a deep reduction. The growth pace was the most rapid in August 2023 when the average export price increased by 44% month-to-month. The export price peaked at $305 per ton in January 2023; however, from February 2023 to January 2024, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices for the major overseas markets. In January 2024, the country with the highest price was Poland ($471 per ton), while the average price for exports to Lithuania ($50.0 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From January 2023 to January 2024, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Poland (+5.7%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

The average import price for ethylene polymers; waste, parings and scraps stood at $552 per ton in 2022, falling by -12.1% against the previous year. Overall, the import price showed a perceptible reduction. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2016 an increase of 121% against the previous year. As a result, import price attained the peak level of $1,398 per ton. From 2017 to 2022, the average import prices failed to regain momentum.
