In 2022, the average import price for hydrogen, rare gases and other non-metalses amounted to $0.4 per cubic meter, with an increase of 29% against the previous year. In general, import price indicated a temperate expansion from 2012 to 2022: its price increased at an average annual rate of +3.5% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, import price for hydrogen, rare gases and other non-metalses increased by +126.6% against 2016 indices. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2020 when the average import price increased by 35%. The import price peaked in 2022 and is likely to continue growth in years to come.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Croatia ($2.3 per cubic meter), while the price for Italy ($0.2 per cubic meter) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Hungary (+12.0%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

Overall, the export price showed strong growth. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 when the average export price increased by 49%. Over the period under review, the average export prices reached the peak figure in 2022 and is likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Italy ($1.1 per cubic meter), while the average price for exports to Hungary ($0.3 per cubic meter) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Italy (+17.5%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
