The average export price for melons (including watermelons) and papaws (papayas); freshes stood at $352 per ton in 2022, with an increase of 17% against the previous year. From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to the UK (+4.0%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

Over the period under review, the import price, however, recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The growth pace was the most rapid in June 2023 when the average import price increased by 607% m-o-m. As a result, import price attained the peak level of $1,188 per ton. From July 2023 to December 2023, the average import prices remained at a lower figure.
