In 2022, the average import price for mollusc preparations; mussels, prepared or preserveds amounted to $10,545 per ton, remaining constant against the previous year. Overall, the import price saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 an increase of 7% against the previous year. The import price peaked at $16,963 per ton in 2020; however, from 2021 to 2022, import prices failed to regain momentum.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Italy ($37,500 per ton), while the price for Singapore ($7,127 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2016 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Thailand (+13.1%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced mixed trend patterns.
