The average import price for spices; ginger, neither crushed nor ground stood at $2,191 per ton in 2022, reducing by -28.7% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price, however, continues to indicate a strong expansion. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2020 when the average import price increased by 62% against the previous year. As a result, import price attained the peak level of $3,361 per ton. From 2021 to 2022, the average import prices failed to regain momentum.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was the Czech Republic ($2,921 per ton), while the price for the Netherlands ($1,849 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by the Netherlands (+5.6%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced a decline.

The export price peaked at $6,236 per ton in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2022, the export prices failed to regain momentum.
Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Slovakia ($10,494 per ton), while the average price for exports to Turkey ($602 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Slovakia (+12.3%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced mixed trend patterns.
