The average export price for steel, alloy; bars and rods, hot-rolled, in irregularly wound coilses stood at $964 per ton in August 2023, rising by 3.2% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the export price, however, saw a mild decline. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in April 2023 an increase of 5.1% month-to-month. The export price peaked at $1,056 per ton in December 2022; however, from January 2023 to August 2023, the export prices remained at a lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of destination: the country with the highest price was Poland ($1,142 per ton), while the average price for exports to Slovakia ($717 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From December 2022 to August 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Germany (-0.7%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced a decline.

The average import price for steel, alloy; bars and rods, hot-rolled, in irregularly wound coilses stood at $914 per ton in August 2023, rising by 4.8% against the previous month. In general, the import price, however, recorded a mild slump. The import price peaked at $1,028 per ton in December 2022; however, from January 2023 to August 2023, import prices remained at a lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of origin: the country with the highest price was Germany ($1,158 per ton), while the price for Slovakia ($663 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From December 2022 to August 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Poland (+1.5%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced mixed trend patterns.
Exports of Steel, Alloy; Bars and Rods, Hot-Rolled, in Irregularly Wound Coils in the Czech Republic
In 2022, overseas shipments of steel, alloy; bars and rods, hot-rolled, in irregularly wound coilses decreased by -9% to 129K tons for the first time since 2018, thus ending a three-year rising trend. Over the period under review, imports, however, posted a notable expansion. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 when imports increased by 84% against the previous year. As a result, imports reached the peak of 156K tons, and then contracted significantly in the following year.
