The average export price for steel alloy wire of materials other than silico-manganese steels stood at $941 per ton in January 2024, surging by 6% against the previous month. Overall, the export price, however, showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in November 2023 when the average export price increased by 6.7% month-to-month. Over the period under review, the average export prices attained the maximum at $1,025 per ton in April 2023; however, from May 2023 to January 2024, the export prices failed to regain momentum.

Average prices varied somewhat for the major foreign markets. In January 2024, the countries with the highest prices were Italy ($1,073 per ton) and Oman ($984 per ton), while the average price for exports to Spain ($768 per ton) and Poland ($769 per ton) were amongst the lowest.

From February 2023 to January 2024, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Oman (+1.7%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced mixed trend patterns.

The import price peaked in 2022 and is expected to retain growth in the near future.

Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was South Korea ($2,817 per ton), while the price for China ($1,715 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Spain (+6.0%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
