In July 2023, the average import price for swine; live, pure-bred breeding animalses amounted to $280 per unit, falling by -4.5% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the import price, however, saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in September 2022 an increase of 55% m-o-m. The import price peaked at $356 per unit in April 2023; however, from May 2023 to July 2023, import prices remained at a lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In July 2023, the country with the highest price was the Netherlands ($552 per unit), while the price for Slovakia totaled $251 per unit.
From July 2022 to July 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Germany (+29.2%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

Over the period under review, the export price, however, continues to indicate a pronounced reduction. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 an increase of 43%. The export price peaked at $555 per unit in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2022, the export prices failed to regain momentum.
Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Romania ($411 per unit), while the average price for exports to Italy ($223 per unit) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Italy (+28.5%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
