Price for Wire of Other Alloy Steel in Turkey (FOB) - 2023
The average export price for wire of other alloy steels stood at $1,066 per ton in July 2023, remaining stable against the previous month. Overall, the export price showed a mild contraction. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in February 2023 when the average export price increased by 3% m-o-m. The export price peaked at $1,142 per ton in December 2022; afterwards, it flattened through to July 2023.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of destination: the country with the highest price was the UK ($1,342 per ton), while the average price for exports to Poland ($875 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From December 2022 to July 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to France (+2.6%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

The average import price for wire of other alloy steels stood at $1,755 per ton in July 2023, dropping by -11.2% against the previous month. In general, the import price continues to indicate a noticeable setback. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in April 2023 when the average import price increased by 70% m-o-m. The import price peaked at $2,125 per ton in December 2022; however, from January 2023 to July 2023, import prices remained at a lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In July 2023, the country with the highest price was Germany ($3,318 per ton), while the price for China ($1,181 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From December 2022 to July 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Germany (+7.0%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
Exports of Wire of Other Alloy Steel in Turkey
In 2022, after three years of growth, there was decline in overseas shipments of wire of other alloy steels, when their volume decreased by -2.5% to 255K tons. Overall, exports, however, enjoyed significant growth. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2020 with an increase of 110%.
In value terms, wire of other alloy steel exports expanded remarkably to $303M in 2022. Over the period under review, exports, however, enjoyed a significant expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 with an increase of 108% against the previous year. The exports peaked in 2022 and are expected to retain growth in years to come.
