In August 2023, the average import price for wood charcoal (including shell or nut charcoal), whether or not agglomerated amounted to $830 per ton, picking up by 26% against the previous month. Over the period from October 2022 to August 2023, it increased at an average monthly rate of +2.2%. The import price peaked at $834 per ton in May 2023; however, from June 2023 to August 2023, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In August 2023, the country with the highest price was Norway ($2,963 per ton), while the price for Indonesia ($585 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
