Root and Tuber Price in Poland (CIF) - 2022

The average root and tuber import price stood at $356 per ton in 2022, which is down by -5.7% against the previous year. Over the last decade, it increased at an average annual rate of +1.4%. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2013 when the average import price increased by 36% against the previous year. As a result, import price reached the peak level of $419 per ton. From 2014 to 2022, the average import prices remained at a somewhat lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Belgium ($765 per ton), while the price for the UK ($217 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Belgium (+13.5%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

Root and Tuber Price in Poland (FOB) - 2022

The average root and tuber export price stood at $371 per ton in 2022, with an increase of 21% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price showed a resilient increase. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2019 when the average export price increased by 48%. As a result, the export price attained the peak level of $455 per ton. From 2020 to 2022, the average export prices remained at a somewhat lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices for the major foreign markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Germany ($628 per ton), while the average price for exports to Moldova ($194 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Germany (+9.0%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

Root and Tuber Imports in Poland

In 2022, overseas purchases of roots and tubers were finally on the rise to reach 192K tons for the first time since 2019, thus ending a two-year declining trend. Overall, imports, however, recorded a deep downturn.

In value terms, root and tuber imports soared to $68M in 2022. In general, imports, however, continue to indicate a abrupt downturn.

Root and Tuber Exports in Poland

In 2022, the amount of roots and tubers exported from Poland declined significantly to 39K tons, falling by -41.1% against 2021. In general, exports, however, saw a pronounced expansion. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 when exports increased by 114% against the previous year. As a result, the exports reached the peak of 67K tons, and then contracted rapidly in the following year.

In value terms, root and tuber exports fell rapidly to $15M in 2022. Overall, exports showed a noticeable contraction. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when exports increased by 115% against the previous year. As a result, the exports attained the peak of $21M, and then fell notably in the following year.
