Sulphates; of Magnesium Price in Turkey (FOB) - 2023
The average sulphates; of magnesium export price stood at $292 per ton in July 2023, with a decrease of -2.7% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the export price showed a noticeable shrinkage. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in December 2022 when the average export price increased by 16% against the previous month. The export price peaked at $524 per ton in August 2022; however, from September 2022 to July 2023, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Average prices varied somewhat for the major external markets. In July 2023, the countries with the highest prices were Belgium ($349 per ton) and Qatar ($343 per ton), while the average price for exports to Turkmenistan ($259 per ton) and Ukraine ($261 per ton) were amongst the lowest.
From July 2022 to July 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Egypt (+14.4%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
Sulphates; of Magnesium Price in Turkey (CIF) - 2022
The average sulphates; of magnesium import price stood at $761 per ton in 2022, remaining constant against the previous year. Overall, import price indicated perceptible growth from 2012 to 2022: its price increased at an average annual rate of +3.6% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, sulphates; of magnesium import price increased by +89.4% against 2015 indices. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2016 when the average import price increased by 41% against the previous year. The import price peaked in 2022 and is likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Germany ($1,147 per ton), while the price for India ($490 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Germany (+10.1%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced mixed trend patterns.
Sulphates; of Magnesium Exports in Turkey
In 2022, after three years of growth, there was significant decline in shipments abroad of sulphates; of magnesia, when their volume decreased by -61.3% to 8.7K tons. Over the period under review, exports, however, recorded a prominent expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 with an increase of 100% against the previous year. As a result, the exports reached the peak of 22K tons, and then declined rapidly in the following year.
In value terms, sulphates; of magnesium exports fell remarkably to $3.7M in 2022. In general, exports, however, continue to indicate a significant expansion. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 with an increase of 160%. As a result, the exports reached the peak of $6.7M, and then contracted dramatically in the following year.
