Surface Active Agent Price in the United States (FOB) - 2023
In August 2023, the average surface active agent export price amounted to $3,802 per ton, which is down by -4.2% against the previous month. Overall, the export price, however, continues to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in March 2023 when the average export price increased by 7.3% month-to-month. The export price peaked at $4,154 per ton in January 2023; however, from February 2023 to August 2023, the export prices failed to regain momentum.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of destination: the country with the highest price was Belgium ($7,217 per ton), while the average price for exports to Canada ($2,626 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From August 2022 to August 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to the Netherlands (+5.6%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
Surface Active Agent Price in the United States (CIF) - 2022
The average surface active agent import price stood at $2,159 per ton in 2022, increasing by 13% against the previous year. Over the period from 2013 to 2022, it increased at an average annual rate of +1.0%. As a result, import price reached the peak level and is likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Japan ($7,278 per ton), while the price for Mexico ($1,070 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2013 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by South Korea (+4.0%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
Surface Active Agent Exports in the United States
In 2022, shipments abroad of surface active agents decreased by -1.9% to 1.7M tons, falling for the second consecutive year after two years of growth. In general, exports recorded a slight shrinkage. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2020 with an increase of 0.3%. As a result, the exports reached the peak of 1.8M tons. From 2021 to 2022, the growth of the exports remained at a somewhat lower figure.
In value terms, surface active agent exports reached $6.4B in 2022. The total export value increased at an average annual rate of +6.5% over the period from 2019 to 2022; the trend pattern remained relatively stable, with only minor fluctuations in certain years. As a result, the exports attained the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
