Tantalum Price in the Philippines (CIF) - 2022
In 2022, the average tantalum import price amounted to $614,492 per ton, declining by -6.8% against the previous year. In general, import price indicated buoyant growth from 2012 to 2022: its price increased at an average annual rate of +5.7% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, tantalum import price decreased by -20.6% against 2018 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 an increase of 74% against the previous year. As a result, import price reached the peak level of $774,180 per ton. From 2019 to 2022, the average import prices failed to regain momentum.
Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Germany ($817,046 per ton), while the price for China ($538,312 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Australia (+54.4%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
Tantalum Price in the Philippines (FOB) - 2022
The average tantalum export price stood at $180,010 per ton in 2022, reducing by -44% against the previous year. In general, the export price continues to indicate a noticeable contraction. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 an increase of 100% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the average export prices attained the maximum at $402,365 per ton in 2016; however, from 2017 to 2022, the export prices remained at a lower figure.
As there is only one major export destination, the average price level is determined by prices for Australia.
From 2012 to 2022, the rate of growth in terms of prices for Hong Kong SAR amounted to +68.9% per year.
Tantalum Imports in the Philippines
In 2022, after three years of growth, there was significant decline in overseas purchases of tantalum, when their volume decreased by -6.3% to 8.9 tons. In general, imports, however, continue to indicate significant growth. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 with an increase of 68%. As a result, imports attained the peak of 9.5 tons, and then reduced in the following year.
In value terms, tantalum imports reduced to $5.5M in 2022. Over the period under review, imports, however, enjoyed a significant increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 with an increase of 66% against the previous year. As a result, imports reached the peak of $6.2M, and then shrank in the following year.

Tantalum Exports in the Philippines
