Wheat Gluten Price in Argentina (CIF) - 2022

In 2022, the average wheat gluten import price amounted to $2,487 per ton, increasing by 44% against the previous year. In general, import price indicated a prominent increase from 2012 to 2022: its price increased at an average annual rate of +7.4% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, wheat gluten import price increased by +67.6% against 2020 indices. As a result, import price attained the peak level and is likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was China ($2,599 per ton), while the price for the Netherlands ($1,543 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by China (+8.5%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

The export price peaked at $2,276 per ton in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2022, the export prices remained at a lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices for the major external markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Japan ($3,195 per ton), while the average price for exports to Chile ($1,356 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Japan (+4.1%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

Wheat Gluten Imports in Argentina

In 2022, the amount of wheat gluten imported into Argentina dropped sharply to 425 tons, which is down by -44.7% against 2021 figures. Over the period under review, imports recorded a dramatic contraction. The smallest decline of -23.8% was in 2020.

In value terms, wheat gluten imports shrank dramatically to $1.1M in 2022. In general, imports recorded a sharp descent.
