Wine Price in Croatia (CIF) - 2022

In 2022, the average wine import price amounted to $1.7 per litre, rising by 13% against the previous year. Over the last decade, it increased at an average annual rate of +3.0%. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 an increase of 31%. Over the period under review, average import prices hit record highs in 2022 and is expected to retain growth in years to come.

Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was France ($12 per litre), while the price for Hungary ($0.5 per litre) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Slovenia (+4.9%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

Wine Price in Croatia (FOB) - 2022

In 2022, the average wine export price amounted to $4.4 per litre, shrinking by -4.5% against the previous year. In general, the export price, however, enjoyed moderate growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 an increase of 193% against the previous year. As a result, the export price reached the peak level of $9.5 per litre. From 2018 to 2022, the average export prices failed to regain momentum.

There were significant differences in the average prices for the major external markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Switzerland ($10 per litre), while the average price for exports to Slovakia ($1.1 per litre) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Switzerland (+7.4%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

Wine Imports in Croatia

In 2022, wine imports into Croatia contracted to 25M litres, reducing by -10.8% against the year before. Overall, imports continue to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 with an increase of 13%. As a result, imports attained the peak of 28M litres, and then contracted in the following year.

In value terms, wine imports stood at $42M in 2022. The total import value increased at an average annual rate of +5.2% over the period from 2019 to 2022; the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded in certain years. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 with an increase of 32%. Over the period under review, imports reached the maximum in 2022 and are likely to continue growth in the near future.

Wine Exports in Croatia

In 2022, the amount of wine and grape must exported from Croatia rose significantly to 4.6M litres, increasing by 7.1% on the previous year's figure. Overall, exports, however, continue to indicate a perceptible slump. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 when exports increased by 24% against the previous year. The exports peaked at 5.2M litres in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2022, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, wine exports rose to $21M in 2022. The total export value increased at an average annual rate of +4.9% over the period from 2019 to 2022; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 with an increase of 38%. Over the period under review, the exports reached the peak figure in 2022 and are expected to retain growth in years to come.
