Over the period under review, imports recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2017 with an increase of X%. The volume of import peaked at X tons in 2020; however, from 2021 to 2023, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, chili and pepper imports rose remarkably to $X in 2023. Overall, imports, however, recorded a mild decrease. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 with an increase of X% against the previous year. The level of import peaked at $X in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2023, imports remained at a lower figure.

Imports by Country

In 2023, Russia (X tons) was the major importer of chilies and peppers (green), committing X% of total imports. Kazakhstan (X tons) ranks second in terms of the total imports with a X% share, followed by Belarus (X%). Azerbaijan (X tons), Kyrgyzstan (X tons), Moldova (X tons) and Armenia (X tons) followed a long way behind the leaders.
