In value terms, preserved turkey exports reduced to $X in 2023. Overall, exports showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 with an increase of X%. The level of export peaked at $X in 2020; however, from 2021 to 2023, the exports remained at a lower figure.
Exports by Country
In 2023, Israel (X tons) represented the main exporter of prepared or preserved meat or offal of turkeys, committing X% of total exports. It was distantly followed by the United Arab Emirates (X tons), Turkey (X tons), Jordan (X tons) and Saudi Arabia (X tons), together making up a X% share of total exports. Lebanon (X tons) and Egypt (X tons) followed a long way behind the leaders.
Exports from Israel increased at an average annual rate of X% from 2012 to 2023. At the same time, the United Arab Emirates (X%), Egypt (X%) and Turkey (X%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, the United Arab Emirates emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in MENA, with a CAGR of X% from 2012-2023. By contrast, Jordan (X%), Lebanon (X%) and Saudi Arabia (X%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. While the share of Israel (X p.p.), the United Arab Emirates (X p.p.) and Turkey (X p.p.) increased significantly in terms of the total exports from 2012-2023, the share of Lebanon (X p.p.), Jordan (X p.p.) and Saudi Arabia (X p.p.) displayed negative dynamics. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.
In value terms, the largest preserved turkey supplying countries in MENA were Israel ($X), the United Arab Emirates ($X) and Turkey ($X), with a combined X% share of total exports.
Among the main exporting countries, the United Arab Emirates, with a CAGR of X%, saw the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of exports, over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
Export Prices by Country
In 2023, the export price in MENA amounted to $X per ton, approximately reflecting the previous year. Export price indicated a notable increase from 2012 to 2023: its price increased at an average annual rate of X% over the last eleven-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2023 figures, preserved turkey export price increased by X% against 2018 indices. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2022 when the export price increased by X%. In 2023, after four years of decline, there was significant growth in purchases abroad of prepared or preserved meat or offal of turkeys, when their volume increased by X% to X tons. In general, imports, however, saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2013 with an increase of X%. Over the period under review, imports attained the maximum at X tons in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2023, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.
In value terms, preserved turkey imports surged to $X in 2023. Over the period under review, imports continue to indicate noticeable growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 with an increase of X%. Over the period under review, imports attained the maximum at $X in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2023, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Imports by Country
The purchases of the six major importers of prepared or preserved meat or offal of turkeys, namely Saudi Arabia, Lebanon, Jordan, Kuwait, Qatar and the United Arab Emirates, represented more than two-thirds of total import. Bahrain (X tons) took a relatively small share of total imports.
From 2012 to 2023, the biggest increases were recorded for Bahrain (with a CAGR of X%), while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, the largest preserved turkey importing markets in MENA were Saudi Arabia ($X), Qatar ($X) and Lebanon ($X), together accounting for X% of total imports. Kuwait, Jordan, the United Arab Emirates and Bahrain lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further X%.

The import price in MENA stood at $X per ton in 2023, reducing by X% against the previous year. Over the period from 2012 to 2023, it increased at an average annual rate of X%. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2019 an increase of X% against the previous year. Over the period under review, import prices hit record highs at $X per ton in 2022, and then fell in the following year.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major importing countries. In 2023, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Qatar ($X per ton), while Lebanon ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
