In March 2023, the average alcohols; polyhydric, pentaerythritol export price amounted to $1,596 per ton, rising by 3.4% against the previous month. Overall, the export price, however, continues to indicate a noticeable decline. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in December 2022 when the average export price increased by 13% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the average export prices hit record highs at $2,335 per ton in June 2022; however, from July 2022 to March 2023, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major overseas markets. In March 2023, the country with the highest price was Japan ($2,345 per ton), while the average price for exports to Portugal ($1,250 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From March 2022 to March 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Portugal (+2.5%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced mixed trend patterns.

In 2022, approx. 60K tons of alcohols; polyhydric, pentaerythritol were exported from China; with a decrease of -9% compared with the previous year. The total export volume increased at an average annual rate of +4.4% over the period from 2019 to 2022; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded in certain years. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 when exports increased by 39% against the previous year. As a result, the exports attained the peak of 66K tons, and then dropped in the following year.
In value terms, alcohols; polyhydric, pentaerythritol exports contracted to $123M in 2022. Over the period under review, total exports indicated a prominent increase from 2019 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +10.5% over the last three-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, exports increased by +78.3% against 2020 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 with an increase of 86% against the previous year. As a result, the exports reached the peak of $129M, and then declined in the following year.
