The average alkali metals; sodium import price stood at $63,516 per ton in 2022, waning by -9.3% against the previous year. Overall, the import price, however, continues to indicate a significant expansion. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2019 when the average import price increased by 540%. As a result, import price reached the peak level of $185,999 per ton. From 2020 to 2022, the average import prices remained at a somewhat lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Argentina ($240,111 per ton), while the price for the United States ($55,376 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by the United States (+19.6%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced mixed trend patterns.
Alkali Metals; Sodium Imports in Colombia
In 2022, after three years of growth, there was significant decline in supplies from abroad of alkali metals; sodia, when their volume decreased by -36.7% to 76 kg. In general, imports, however, recorded a significant expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when imports increased by 471% against the previous year. As a result, imports reached the peak of 120 kg, and then shrank significantly in the following year.
In value terms, alkali metals; sodium imports shrank markedly to $4.8K in 2022. Over the period under review, imports, however, showed a significant increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 with an increase of 585% against the previous year. As a result, imports attained the peak of $8.4K, and then dropped sharply in the following year.
