Aluminium Alloy Wire Price in Japan (FOB) - 2023
The average aluminium alloy wire export price stood at $4,536 per ton in July 2023, picking up by 6.4% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the export price saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in January 2023 when the average export price increased by 6.7% against the previous month. The export price peaked at $4,692 per ton in August 2022; however, from September 2022 to July 2023, the export prices failed to regain momentum.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major overseas markets. In July 2023, the country with the highest price was the United States ($7,663 per ton), while the average price for exports to Malaysia ($3,194 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From July 2022 to July 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Taiwan (Chinese) (+1.1%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced mixed trend patterns.
Aluminium Alloy Wire Price in Japan (CIF) - 2022
In 2022, the average aluminium alloy wire import price amounted to $4,649 per ton, rising by 18% against the previous year. In general, the import price, however, showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The import price peaked at $4,757 per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, import prices failed to regain momentum.
Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Italy ($9,669 per ton), while the price for Vietnam ($3,490 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Spain (+4.3%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
Aluminium Alloy Wire Exports in Japan
Aluminium alloy wire exports from Japan was estimated at 8.6K tons in 2022, with an increase of 8.3% compared with 2021. The total export volume increased at an average annual rate of +4.7% over the period from 2019 to 2022; the trend pattern remained relatively stable, with only minor fluctuations throughout the analyzed period. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2020 with an increase of 19% against the previous year. As a result, the exports attained the peak of 8.9K tons. From 2021 to 2022, the growth of the exports failed to regain momentum.
In value terms, aluminium alloy wire exports rose rapidly to $38M in 2022. The total export value increased at an average annual rate of +7.9% from 2019 to 2022; the trend pattern remained consistent, with only minor fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. As a result, the exports reached the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

Aluminium Alloy Wire Imports in Japan
Aluminium alloy wire imports into Japan reduced to 6.2K tons in 2022, dropping by -13.1% on 2021. Over the period under review, total imports indicated a resilient expansion from 2019 to 2022: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +11.8% over the last three-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +59.1% against 2020 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 with an increase of 83% against the previous year. As a result, imports reached the peak of 7.1K tons, and then reduced in the following year.
In value terms, aluminium alloy wire imports amounted to $29M in 2022. In general, imports, however, enjoyed resilient growth. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 when imports increased by 108%. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs in 2022 and are expected to retain growth in the immediate term.
