Import Prices By Country
The average import price for anionic surface-active agents (excluding soap) stood at $1,706 per ton in 2022, approximately reflecting the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price, however, showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 an increase of 15%. South Korea represented the key exporting country with an export of around 162K tons, which accounted for 40% of total exports. Indonesia (72K tons) held the second position in the ranking, distantly followed by Norway (35K tons), the Philippines (24K tons), Argentina (20K tons) and India (18K tons). All these countries together held near 42% share of total exports. Taiwan (Chinese) (16K tons) held a minor share of total exports.
From 2012 to 2022, average annual rates of growth with regard to anionic surface-active agents (excl. soap) exports from South Korea stood at +4.5%. At the same time, Argentina (+14.3%), Indonesia (+8.6%) and Norway (+2.0%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Argentina emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in the world, with a CAGR of +14.3% from 2012-2022. The Philippines experienced a relatively flat trend pattern. By contrast, Taiwan (Chinese) (-3.4%) and India (-14.9%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. In value terms, South Korea ($239M), Indonesia ($123M) and Norway ($78M) appeared to be the countries with the highest levels of exports in 2022, with a combined 64% share of global exports. The Philippines, Argentina, India and Taiwan (Chinese) lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 22%.
Argentina, with a CAGR of +13.1%, recorded the highest growth rate of the value of exports, in terms of the main exporting countries over the period under review, while shipments for the other global leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
Export Prices By Country
In 2022, the average export price for anionic surface-active agents (excluding soap) amounted to $1,686 per ton, rising by 2.7% against the previous year. In general, the export price, however, recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 an increase of 16% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the average export prices reached the peak figure at $1,806 per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, the export prices remained at a lower figure.
