Apple Price in Croatia (FOB) - 2023
In June 2023, the average apple export price amounted to $758 per ton, picking up by 55% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the export price enjoyed a resilient expansion. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in December 2022 an increase of 58% m-o-m. The export price peaked in June 2023.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major foreign markets. In June 2023, the country with the highest price was Austria ($1,297 per ton), while the average price for exports to Bosnia and Herzegovina ($382 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From June 2022 to June 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Austria (+22.4%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
Apple Price in Croatia (CIF) - 2023
In June 2023, the average apple import price amounted to $772 per ton, picking up by 9.5% against the previous month. In general, import price indicated a pronounced increase from June 2022 to June 2023: its price increased at an average monthly rate of +3.5% over the last twelve months. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on June 2023 figures, apple import price increased by +31.7% against January 2023 indices. The growth pace was the most rapid in January 2023 an increase of 46% against the previous month. Over the period under review, average import prices attained the maximum in June 2023.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of origin: the country with the highest price was Germany ($3,184 per ton), while the price for Poland ($539 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From June 2022 to June 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Hungary (+83.0%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
Apple Exports in Croatia
Apple exports from Croatia dropped markedly to 26K tons in 2022, reducing by -18.2% compared with the year before. Overall, exports showed a deep downturn. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 with an increase of 53%.
In value terms, apple exports fell to $10M in 2022. Over the period under review, total exports indicated a strong increase from 2019 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +5.7% over the last three years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, exports increased by +31.7% against 2020 indices. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 with an increase of 49% against the previous year. As a result, the exports attained the peak of $12M, and then dropped in the following year.

Apple Imports in Croatia
For the fourth year in a row, Croatia recorded growth in purchases abroad of apples, which increased by 11% to 21K tons in 2022. Overall, imports recorded significant growth. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2020 when imports increased by 59% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports attained the peak figure in 2022 and are likely to see gradual growth in the near future.
In value terms, apple imports contracted to $10M in 2022. In general, imports continue to indicate a significant increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 when imports increased by 129%.
