Apricot Price in Malaysia (CIF) - 2022
In 2022, the average apricot import price amounted to $3,665 per ton, which is down by -14.1% against the previous year. Over the period from 2012 to 2022, it increased at an average annual rate of +1.9%. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 an increase of 35%. As a result, import price attained the peak level of $4,268 per ton, and then declined in the following year.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Singapore ($6,931 per ton), while the price for Italy ($2,132 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Singapore (+13.6%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
Apricot Price in Malaysia (FOB) - 2022
In 2022, the average apricot export price amounted to $2,575 per ton, reducing by -19.9% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price, however, saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 an increase of 75% against the previous year. The export price peaked at $3,698 per ton in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2022, the export prices failed to regain momentum.
Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Brunei Darussalam ($10,670 per ton), while the average price for exports to Thailand ($592 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Brunei Darussalam (+11.6%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
Apricot Imports in Malaysia
In 2022, approx. 136 tons of apricots were imported into Malaysia; surging by 9.6% compared with the previous year. Overall, imports saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 when imports increased by 10%. As a result, imports attained the peak of 148 tons. From 2021 to 2022, the growth of imports failed to regain momentum.
In value terms, apricot imports declined to $498K in 2022. In general, imports continue to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 with an increase of 13%. As a result, imports attained the peak of $529K, and then reduced in the following year.
