Argon Price in Slovenia (CIF) - 2023
The average argon import price stood at $1.6 per cubic meter in September 2023, picking up by 13% against the previous month. In general, import price indicated a remarkable increase from September 2022 to September 2023: its price increased at an average monthly rate of +5.2% over the last twelve months. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on September 2023 figures, argon import price decreased by -1.2% against June 2023 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in November 2022 when the average import price increased by 50% against the previous month. The import price peaked at $1.8 per cubic meter in February 2023; however, from March 2023 to September 2023, import prices failed to regain momentum.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of origin: the country with the highest price was Poland ($2.2 per cubic meter), while the price for Bosnia and Herzegovina ($837 per thousand cubic meters) was amongst the lowest.
From September 2022 to September 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Slovakia (+9.0%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
Argon Price in Slovenia (FOB) - 2023
The average argon export price stood at $2.2 per cubic meter in September 2023, growing by 5.4% against the previous month. Overall, export price indicated a temperate increase from September 2022 to September 2023: its price increased at an average monthly rate of +3.7% over the last twelve months. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on September 2023 figures, argon export price increased by +5.4% against August 2023 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in November 2022 an increase of 32% month-to-month. The export price peaked at $2.7 per cubic meter in April 2023; however, from May 2023 to September 2023, the export prices failed to regain momentum.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major foreign markets. In September 2023, the country with the highest price was Hungary ($3.2 per cubic meter), while the average price for exports to Bosnia and Herzegovina ($1.1 per cubic meter) was amongst the lowest.
From September 2022 to September 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Hungary (+6.0%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
Argon Imports in Slovenia
In 2022, approx. 12M cubic meters of argon were imported into Slovenia; increasing by 37% compared with the year before. The total import volume increased at an average annual rate of +7.0% over the period from 2019 to 2022; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded in certain years. As a result, imports attained the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
In value terms, argon imports soared to $8.2M in 2022. In general, total imports indicated a buoyant expansion from 2019 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +15.0% over the last three years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +52.0% against 2019 indices.
