Artificial Graphite Price in the Netherlands (CIF) - 2023
In June 2023, the average artificial graphite import price amounted to $2,257 per ton, declining by -28.4% against the previous month. Overall, import price indicated mild growth from June 2022 to June 2023: its price increased at an average monthly rate of +1.2% over the last twelve months. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on June 2023 figures, artificial graphite import price increased by +10.1% against April 2023 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in May 2023 when the average import price increased by 54% against the previous month. As a result, import price attained the peak level of $3,153 per ton, and then shrank sharply in the following month.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In June 2023, the country with the highest price was Japan ($5,333 per ton), while the price for China ($1,352 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From June 2022 to June 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Spain (+14.6%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

In June 2023, the average artificial graphite export price amounted to $2,503 per ton, which is down by -32.4% against the previous month. In general, export price indicated a notable increase from June 2022 to June 2023: its price increased at an average monthly rate of +2.0% over the last twelve months. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on June 2023 figures, artificial graphite export price decreased by -32.4% against May 2023 indices. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in August 2022 when the average export price increased by 89% m-o-m. Over the period under review, the average export prices hit record highs at $4,247 per ton in November 2022; however, from December 2022 to June 2023, the export prices failed to regain momentum.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of destination: the country with the highest price was Belgium ($15,155 per ton), while the average price for exports to Spain ($2,011 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From June 2022 to June 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Portugal (+18.0%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
Artificial Graphite Imports in the Netherlands
Artificial graphite imports into the Netherlands reduced markedly to 17K tons in 2022, waning by -22.3% against the year before. Over the period under review, imports, however, posted a resilient increase. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 with an increase of 99% against the previous year. As a result, imports reached the peak of 22K tons, and then contracted remarkably in the following year.
In value terms, artificial graphite imports rose notably to $42M in 2022. Overall, imports, however, enjoyed a significant expansion. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2020 with an increase of 55%. Over the period under review, imports attained the maximum in 2022 and are likely to continue growth in the near future.
