In May 2023, the average artificial graphite export price amounted to $3,200 per ton, approximately reflecting the previous month. Overall, the export price, however, continues to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in September 2022 when the average export price increased by 8.9% m-o-m. As a result, the export price attained the peak level of $3,753 per ton. From October 2022 to May 2023, the the average export prices remained at a lower figure.

As there is only one major export destination, the average price level is determined by prices for the UK.

In 2022, the average artificial graphite import price amounted to $2,687 per ton, surging by 75% against the previous year. In general, the import price, however, saw a abrupt shrinkage. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2014 when the average import price increased by 106% against the previous year. Over the period under review, average import prices hit record highs at $4,728 per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, import prices remained at a lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was France ($50,339 per ton), while the price for Germany ($1,085 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Norway (+10.4%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced mixed trend patterns.
