Artificial Graphite Price in Vietnam (CIF) - 2022
The average artificial graphite import price stood at $3,818 per ton in 2022, falling by -22.1% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price, however, showed a measured increase. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2013 an increase of 79% against the previous year. Over the period under review, average import prices attained the peak figure at $6,612 per ton in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2022, import prices failed to regain momentum.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was South Korea ($9,379 per ton), while the price for China ($2,005 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Iran (+43.8%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
Artificial Graphite Price in Vietnam (FOB) - 2022
In 2022, the average artificial graphite export price amounted to $31,377 per ton, rising by 1.6% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price saw a buoyant increase. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2014 when the average export price increased by 96%. The export price peaked at $86,352 per ton in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2022, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major overseas markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Canada ($97,603 per ton), while the average price for exports to India ($9,898 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to the Philippines (+20.2%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced a decline.
Artificial Graphite Imports in Vietnam
In 2022, the amount of artificial graphite imported into Vietnam surged to 5.8K tons, growing by 16% compared with the previous year. Overall, total imports indicated prominent growth from 2019 to 2022: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +17.7% over the last three-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +85.7% against 2020 indices. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 when imports increased by 59%. Over the period under review, imports attained the maximum in 2022 and are expected to retain growth in years to come.
In value terms, artificial graphite imports declined to $22M in 2022. In general, imports, however, continue to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 with an increase of 23% against the previous year. As a result, imports attained the peak of $25M, and then reduced in the following year.

Artificial Graphite Exports in Vietnam
In 2022, shipments abroad of artificial graphite increased by 45% to 155 kg for the first time since 2019, thus ending a two-year declining trend. In general, exports, however, saw a significant decline.
In value terms, artificial graphite exports surged to $4.9K in 2022. Over the period under review, exports, however, showed a sharp reduction.
