Asparagus Price in Russia (CIF) - 2022
The average asparagus import price stood at $7,632 per ton in January 2022, with an increase of 7% against the previous month. Over the period from January 2021 to January 2022, it increased at an average monthly rate of +3.0%. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in December 2021 an increase of 38% m-o-m. Over the period under review, average import prices attained the maximum in January 2022.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of origin: the country with the highest price was Thailand ($10,666 per ton), while the price for Peru ($6,960 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From January 2021 to January 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Peru (+5.1%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
Asparagus Price in Russia (FOB) - 2022
In 2022, the average asparagus export price amounted to $10,920 per ton, dropping by -11.8% against the previous year. Overall, the export price recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 when the average export price increased by 13%. As a result, the export price reached the peak level of $12,381 per ton, and then dropped in the following year.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major export markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Ukraine ($19,000 per ton), while the average price for exports to Belarus ($10,521 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2020 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Ukraine (+50.4%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced mixed trend patterns.
Asparagus Imports in Russia
In 2022, asparagus imports into Russia fell to 470 tons, waning by -14.2% compared with 2021. In general, imports saw a pronounced curtailment. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 with an increase of 40%. As a result, imports attained the peak of 548 tons, and then dropped in the following year.
In value terms, asparagus imports dropped markedly to $2.5M in 2022.
