Baby Food Price in Singapore (FOB) - 2022
The average baby food export price stood at $11,634 per ton in September 2022, flattening at the previous month. Over the period under review, export price indicated a measured increase from September 2021 to September 2022: its price increased at an average monthly rate of +3.9% over the last twelve months. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on September 2022 figures, baby food export price increased by +4.6% against July 2022 indices. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in January 2022 an increase of 57% month-to-month. Over the period under review, the average export prices attained the maximum at $12,510 per ton in May 2022; however, from June 2022 to September 2022, the export prices failed to regain momentum.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major external markets. In September 2022, the country with the highest price was Vietnam ($15,757 per ton), while the average price for exports to Thailand ($9,583 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From September 2021 to September 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Indonesia (+4.7%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
Baby Food Price in Singapore (CIF) - 2022
The average baby food import price stood at $12,692 per ton in 2022, almost unchanged from the previous year. In general, the import price continues to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 an increase of 28%. The import price peaked at $18,606 per ton in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2022, import prices remained at a lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was the Netherlands ($20,742 per ton), while the price for Malaysia ($4,289 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Indonesia (+9.0%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
Baby Food Exports in Singapore
After three years of growth, shipments abroad of food preparations for infants decreased by -25.6% to 24K tons in 2022. In general, exports, however, recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2020 when exports increased by 33% against the previous year.
In value terms, baby food exports reduced markedly to $194M in 2022. Over the period under review, exports continue to indicate a pronounced curtailment. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 when exports increased by 29% against the previous year. As a result, the exports reached the peak of $291M. From 2021 to 2022, the growth of the exports remained at a somewhat lower figure.
