Beer Price in Estonia (FOB) - 2023
The average beer export price stood at $942 per thousand litres in September 2023, picking up by 2.9% against the previous month. Overall, export price indicated a noticeable expansion from September 2022 to September 2023: its price increased at an average monthly rate of +4.0% over the last twelve months. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on September 2023 figures, beer export price increased by +13.3% against May 2023 indices. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in January 2023 when the average export price increased by 35% m-o-m. Over the period under review, the average export prices reached the maximum in September 2023.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major overseas markets. In September 2023, the country with the highest price was China ($2.2 per litre), while the average price for exports to Latvia ($579 per thousand litres) was amongst the lowest.
From September 2022 to September 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Lithuania (+7.4%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
Beer Price in Estonia (CIF) - 2023
In September 2023, the average beer import price amounted to $1.2 per litre, which is down by -3.4% against the previous month. Over the period from September 2022 to September 2023, it increased at an average monthly rate of +3.4%. The growth pace was the most rapid in August 2023 an increase of 26% m-o-m. As a result, import price attained the peak level of $1.3 per litre, and then shrank modestly in the following month.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In September 2023, the country with the highest price was the Netherlands ($1.9 per litre), while the price for Ukraine ($424 per thousand litres) was amongst the lowest.
From September 2022 to September 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Latvia (+6.4%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
Beer Exports in Estonia
Beer exports from Estonia contracted slightly to 66M litres in 2022, declining by -3.5% on 2021 figures. Overall, exports continue to indicate a mild setback. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 with an increase of 7.5%. As a result, the exports attained the peak of 69M litres, and then contracted slightly in the following year.
In value terms, beer exports shrank slightly to $37M in 2022. Over the period under review, exports saw a pronounced contraction. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when exports increased by 9.9%. The exports peaked at $43M in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2022, the exports remained at a lower figure.
