Beer Price in Malaysia (FOB) - 2022
In 2022, the average beer export price amounted to $0.7 per litre, waning by -22.9% against the previous year. Overall, the export price showed a deep contraction. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 an increase of 48%. Over the period under review, the average export prices hit record highs at $1.4 per litre in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2022, the export prices remained at a lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major foreign markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Indonesia ($2.5 per litre), while the average price for exports to Singapore ($0.5 per litre) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Indonesia (+6.3%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
Beer Price in Malaysia (CIF) - 2022
The average beer import price stood at $1.1 per litre in 2022, approximately mirroring the previous year. In general, the import price, however, recorded a slight setback. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 an increase of 16%. Over the period under review, average import prices reached the maximum at $1.3 per litre in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2022, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Austria ($2.3 per litre), while the price for Belgium ($0.5 per litre) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Austria (+6.1%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
Beer Exports in Malaysia
In 2022, overseas shipments of beer were finally on the rise to reach 40M litres for the first time since 2019, thus ending a two-year declining trend. Overall, exports, however, showed a noticeable setback. The exports peaked at 44M litres in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2022, the exports failed to regain momentum.
In value terms, beer exports shrank to $28M in 2022. In general, exports, however, continue to indicate a deep contraction. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 with an increase of 37%. The exports peaked at $39M in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2022, the exports remained at a lower figure.

Beer Imports in Malaysia
After two years of decline, overseas purchases of beer increased by 11% to 26M litres in 2022. In general, imports, however, continue to indicate a sharp setback. Imports peaked at 66M litres in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2022, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.
In value terms, beer imports expanded significantly to $29M in 2022. Over the period under review, imports, however, continue to indicate a dramatic descent. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs at $58M in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2022, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.
